In this article I explain how to add a new domain to your HostGator Account. After redirecting your name server to your host, this is what you need to create a website.
Note: In order to be able to add a new domain to your HostGator account, please make sure you’ve already followed my How to point your GoDaddy Domain to your Host Guide. This is necessary in order to add the domain to your account before being able to install your website. Sometimes it will take 2 hours and up to 2 days in order to redirect your name servers, so if you try this process and you’re not able to complete it, please give it some time and try again.
First, log in to your HostGator cPanel. Usually you can do this by typing the following URL into your browser: http://mydomain.com/cpanel (and replace mydomain for your actual domain name).
Now that you’re inside your cPanel, look for the Domains Box and click on “Addon Domains” to add a domain.
After that you need to fill the following Form, where you need to write your domain name (example: stream-seo.com) without the “http://“. Let HostGator fill your root and subdomain settings automatically.
Finally, set your Domain Password and make sure it’s a strong one. You can also use the Password Generator in order to get a strong password, but make sure you write it down or copy it before closing the window.
Finally, click on the “Add Domain” button and wait a few seconds while HostGator creates the necessary files. Now you’re ready to install your website at your host using the final domain name.
