WARNING! STREAM SEO IS NOT ACCEPTING MORE GUEST POSTS AS OF AUGUST 2016
For the last 2-3 years Stream SEO has been accepting guest posts for people who want to get an audience or simply want to contribute with something interesting to the community and get a couple backlinks every now and then.
However I don’t think I’ve accepted more than 20 guest posts, mostly because the quality of them is very bad. And I’m not talking about the grammar or the length of the article, but the headline and the topic itself are boring and don’t really provide any value to my readers.
Every week I get a few dozen proposals and it clear how people don’t even read the guidelines before pitching me with a guest post because they pretty much want to either build backlinks or stuff an article with affiliate links and make money from that.
8 out of 10 guest posts I received in the last week have titles like “8 mistakes about SEO” and “5 tools you can’t miss when using WordPress”.
That’s exactly the type of generic articles I don’t want in my blog and they can be published everywhere else because the value is close to 0%.
Instead, you’ve seen I can take 2-4 months just to publish an article but the article will be a complete guide on how to do something or a real life case study instead of just writing 8 boring things about any theme with information that I didn’t get myself and that everybody talks about.
I know my blogging is not consistent because I have a lot of things to do and I mostly blog for fun, but I prefer to keep quality over quantity. I could have both but not just quantity over quality.
That’s why some of my articles have 200 or even 800 comments instead of just being buried with 5 comments.
So from now and on, I won’t be accepting guest posts at Stream SEO anymore. I’m sure i might lose some opportunities here but I’m in the process of changing the way I run this website and guest posts won’t be a thing anymore. If any of you is really interested in providing a case study or guide to show how to generate real traffic or take advantage of social media, SEO, etc. you can still pitch me, but you’l have to find me on Twitter and contact me there. This way I’ll make it hard for the guys sending me shitty articles with 400 words and just keep the really good ones.
Until then, I’m no longer accepting guest posts…
To your success!
