Always save for the unexpected, or that’s what they say. Just to put it in raw numbers, there’s a huge amount of the population who barely have a thousand dollars to spare in the saving accounts just in the USA. I can see many other countries having less than that due to economics.
Whether you had a problem with your car’s engine, or you lost your new iPhone at the bar and now you need to buy it again, or you had to spend $1,000 in medical bills, I won’t judge you.

You’re here looking for ways to make $1,000 dollars fast and that’s what we’ll cover. You’re not looking to create a company or method to start making money in the next 6-12 months. Rent is due and you’re expecting to make some money in the next week or month maximum.
Divide and Conquer
Trying to make $1,000 fast might sound difficult and scary if you need to pay the bills next month and you have no idea what to do.
First, you need to analyze if your goal is possible and to earn $1,000 in 30 days (for example) you need to make around $34 USD per day.
Sounds easier?
I thought so.
Now let’s say you can’t do extra stuff every single day but you still have around 20 active days per month. You require to make an extra $50 per day to achieve your goal.
Don’t think $50 per day is achievable?
Just think about the junkies and homeless people who barely have money to eat yet they manage to get drunk and high almost every single day to satisfy the addiction.
Are you going to let a junkie overcome its needs while you say you can’t achieve it?
No, you won’t!
I bet you can pull this off once or maybe more and eventually save some money to avoid being in this situation in the future again.
15 ways to make $1,000 dollars fast
Let me show you a list with some great ideas to make money fast, many of which I’ve put to test myself and worked in the past. Most of those can be done by anybody as long as you have the will.
Where there’s a will there’s a way
Smart proverb
Before anything else, I must say a lot of lists online cover things like create a blog or sell an online course. Obviously it’s bound to happen since you’re reading a blog like Stream SEO.
Don’t do it!
If you’re really looking to make a thousand bucks quick, you don’t need methods that require months of time and effort to start working.
However, if you are looking for a method or strategy to slowly and steadily start earning some extra cash on the side and you’re willing to work for months or years, then creating a blog is definitely something you might want to consider.
Stream SEO makes anywhere between $5,000 to $10,000 per month but the first year I don’t think I made more than maybe $500 USD.
Just be warned because I’ve seen this recommendation a lot and it doesn’t make sense unless you’re not looking for quick cash.
A blog is an investment, and like many businesses, it requires time and money to eventually work, and that is if it ever works for you.
Was that clear? Let’s get started!
1. Do a garage sale A.K.A. get rid of what you don’t need
You won’t believe how many things people end up buying but they don’t really need it. You don’t need 10 pairs of sneakers and you definitely don’t need that latest iPhone if you’re on a budget.
Doing a quick filter in your house and then preparing a garage sale with everything you haven’t used in the last 6-12 months is a simple yet super effective way to make a quick buck in a hurry.
I tend to clean my house every 6 months and sell the stuff I don’t use as a minimalist. Most of my stuff is gadgets and computer-related stuff because that’s my hobby. Last month I made a quick garage sale and put everything online (think of Facebook groups, eBay, etc.) and sold everything in 2 weeks.
Those were things I barely used in 2019 yet I still had them in the closet. Want to know how much I got back from the sale? Almost $3,000 dollars…
Not every time I do a garage sale I earn that kind of money but normally I recover $500-1,000 back and I never regret selling my stuff if I didn’t use it.
If any, it helps me think and value things more the next time I’m buying something I might not use after 3 months.
2. Deliver food or groceries
I haven’t done this personally but I have a few friends that tried it due to bad times and it worked.
Food delivery services are on a roll and I tend to order my food through Uber eats or my grocery through Cornershop (think of Postmates, Rappi or something similar might be available in your area).
If you have some free time this could easily rack up a thousand dollars or more per week.
3. Flip stuff you can buy for cheap
I’ve done this in the past and it totally works. If you can find stuff people are selling because they don’t use it anymore like you did in point number 1, and you see it’s being sold cheaper than some online markets, it’s time to put your salesman clothes on and start flipping shit.
Found a star war’s R2D2 at a garage sale being priced at $9.99 while they cost $49 online and $29 when they are used? Flip it!
You can take this to a whole new level if you manage to find brand new stuff being sold in local stores that is being sold at a more expensive rate in markets like eBay or Amazon.
While this isn’t as common as it was before, you can still find some golden nuggets from time to time and Amazon will sell them for you as they have millions of visits every month.
4. Rent your property or just a room
A quick way to make money fast is to rent your properties or simply rent the spare rooms you have available. Most people have more rooms than they need and there’s always one room where people put everything they don’t want to see and forget it.

Instead of wasting that space, clean it and post it on Airbnb. Even if it’s only $30 per night if you live in a frequently visited area you could have it rented 15 days per month and that quickly adds up to your wallet.
5. Rent your car or get paid using it
If you don’t use your car every single day you might want to consider renting it to friends or family who need it.
Or maybe you want to drive it yourself, so sign up at Uber, Lyft, etc. and start driving people to their destinies. You can make a few extra bucks per hour and you decide when you want to work.
6. Do freelance work or become a V/A
I’ve done this in the past and also recommended it to many of my friends. If you’re good at doing something in the computer sign up to places like Fiverr, Freelancer, or Upwork and get some gigs done in your spare time.
A ton of Fiverr gigs, for example, are paid in $5 chunks but you can also charge more if you sell packages.

Sometimes the tasks are simple and take a few minutes, so even if it’s $5 per gig you can end up making $20-50 extra in an afternoon if you really need to cash.
7. Become a tourist guide
If you happen to live in a city where tourism really is something, becoming a guide and prepare tours is something that you can do in your free time that can make you a quick buck to get you out of bad situations.
You can use Airbnb or some other alternatives to sell experiences and take people around the recommended areas, restaurants and places to visit like a local.
If you are good at a sport or you have a car to drive people around it could become much more profitable. I’ve seen simple tours for $10-15 and they last an hour or so, and I’ve seen tours that go for $200 in just 4-6 hours including food, transportation, and other amenities.
8. Clean windows/garages/cars/etc.
If you just want to make a thousand dollars once to get out of an unexpected situation you can always to the basics and help your neighbors clean their houses, wash their cars, etc.
This could be $50 a pop and if you do 2-4 every weekend you will be in your way to get those $1,000 back in just a few weeks.

Don’t underestimate the power of work and the value people give to it.
9. Become a babysitter
This is a very popular gig in places like Europe. Parents want some time out Saturday night but they have 2 children to take care of.
You come to the rescue and get to play some video games with the boys and eating some nice dinner while also getting just for making sure everything’s in order around the house.
As long as you act like a proper person and not like a weird serial killer you might get the job, especially if you approach your family or neighbors.
10. Get a Pay Raise
This might be a risky option but also it could be a good investment and it normally doesn’t hurt to ask if you’re doing a good job.
Asking your boss for that pay raise could actually give you the extra $1,000 per month for years. Maybe the pay raise won’t be $1,000 and it won’t be instant, but even if you get a slight bump you will be closer to your goal and will be in a better position to avoid situations like this in the future.
Obviously, if you know your job is capped or you haven’t been performing well lately asking for a raise could be ironic, so proceed with caution.
11. Become a tutor at what you love to do
Doing what you love is great. Doing what you love and getting paid for it is awesome.
If you’re good at something, and it’s a skill other people would love to learn and they’re willing to pay for it, then maybe it’s time for you to give some classes.
If you’re good at surf or snorkeling and you’ve got the gear, give some classes and rent y our stuff to make a quick buck.

Maybe you’re good at playing guitar or good at coding or you love camping and you have all the required gear plus you know the best trails around your area. Create groups and sell the experience to help other people learn while you do something you want.
Who knows, maybe you could even go full time on this if people really want to pay for what you’re teaching.
12. Become a pet sitter or play with dogs
Babysitting is one thing, but pet sitting can be an interesting job as well. People with dogs who want to go out on a weekend but have nobody to feed them could be one market.
Or people who work the whole day but they have a dog that needs to go out for a walk in the afternoons.

Do you know you could even get paid to play with dogs (check out Rover)? Whatever it takes, you can get paid for it by the hour.
13. Do gardening job
Mowing the lawn is a dirty job that can be hard and people are lazy. But at some point, it needs to be done and people are willing to pay for it.
While charging $30-50 a pop you could end up making a few extra hundreds per week and getting around your financial problem faster than you think.

14. Teach others a new language
Similar to point number 11, if you know how to speak other languages like French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or even less common languages, you could find a persona willing to learn and charge for it.
That Japanese guy that just moved in and barely speaks English could use your help to learn the basics.

That boy who can’t pass his French exam to study in Canada? He might be willing to give you some bucks for some extra hours to finally get good grades.
15. Get a part-time job
If none of the points above work for you because you don’t have time or a way to it (remember, where there’s a will, there’s a way), you can still apply for a part-time job and get some extra cash on the side after your regular daily job.
Keep in mind this is more recurrent and not something you want to pull off once just for a month unless the job easily allows you do to so.
Up to you!
That’s why we covered a ton of extra gigs that you can do with your own stuff without investing or committing for a long term period first. But who knows, maybe you could really use that extra money for a long time while you save up and avoid this type of situations in the future 🙂
Let us know if any of the recommendations helped you make those $1,000 dollars as fast as you need them!
When I read the title I thought of making $1000 online. But still, these are amazing ways to make extra cash.
It’s difficult sometimes getting started online when there’s no budget and experience, that’s why I decided to add many things that anybody can do no matter where they live or what they know about computers.
A few of the strategies are online related though, which is always nice 🙂
Yeah, even though I don’t need $1000 right now, I clicked because I thought it would give ideas for making money ONLINE not offline. These things (selling old stuff, flipping, renting, whatever) everybody knows… Maybe you could write another article about making the same $1000 with a quick online solution, like maybe Twitter or Facebook campaigns using affiliate programs and landing pages.
Thanks Carol.
I have a ton of guides about making money online, that’s why this time I wanted to do something more generic for people who don’t do anything online.
